Day 1: Arrival in Vientiane

Activities:

• Arrive at Wattay International Airport, where a Vietnam Legend Travel guide will welcome and assist you.

• Transfer to your hotel for check-in.

• Enjoy leisure time to relax or explore the peaceful, French-influenced city at your own pace.

Suggested Free-time Activities:

• Visit a local cafe for Lao-style coffee.

• Walk along the Mekong River promenade.

• Try local snacks like khao jee (Lao baguette sandwich).

Overnight: Vientiane

 

Day 2: Vientiane City Tour & Buddha Park (B/L)

Morning:

• Breakfast at the hotel.

• Explore Vientiane's spiritual and colonial heritage:

• Wat Sisaket: Oldest surviving temple with over 6,000 Buddha images and beautiful murals.

  • Wat Prakeo: Former royal temple and now a museum of sacred art.

  • That Luang Stupa: Laos' most sacred monument, a golden spire said to house Buddha relics.

  • Patuxay Monument: War memorial resembling Paris’ Arc de Triomphe, offering panoramic views from the top.

Afternoon:

• Visit the Buddha Park (Xieng Khuan): a sculpture park housing over 200 Hindu and Buddhist statues crafted from cement.

• Return to Vientiane to enjoy sunset views along the Mekong River.

• Optional: Visit Anouvong Night Market for local food, handicrafts, and souvenirs.

Day 3: Vientiane to Luang Prabang by Fast Train – Ancient Capital Tour (B/L)

Train: Fast Train C82 | Departure: 11:00 – Arrival: 12:58

Morning:

• Breakfast at hotel.

• Free leisure time before transferring to the Vientiane Railway Station.

Afternoon:

• Arrive in Luang Prabang, meet your guide and transfer to a local restaurant for lunch.

• After check-in, begin touring the ancient royal city:

• Visit the National Museum (Royal Palace), showcasing regalia and art from the former Lao monarchy.

• See Wat Visoun and the iconic Watermelon Stupa, originally from 1513.

• Climb Mount Phousi for a 360-degree view over Luang Prabang and the Mekong at sunset.

Evening: Explore the Night Market along Sisavangvong Road with a variety of local handicrafts and snacks.

Day 4: Alms Ceremony – Wat Xieng Thong – Pak Ou Caves (B/L)

Optional Early Morning:

• Participate in or observe the Alms Giving Ceremony, a spiritual Lao tradition.

• Enjoy local breakfast or return to hotel for breakfast buffet.

Morning:

• Visit the Morning Market, bustling with fresh produce and daily local activity.

• Explore Wat Xieng Thong, Luang Prabang’s most significant and majestic temple, decorated with mosaics and gold carvings.

Midday:

• Cruise the Mekong River north to Pak Ou Caves, sacred caves filled with thousands of Buddha statues.

• Stop at Ban Xang Hai Village, known for Lao rice whisky (lao lao) production.

Afternoon:

• Enjoy lunch at a riverside restaurant.

• Return to Luang Prabang and visit Ban Xang Khong, home to traditional Lao silk weaving and handmade Saa paper workshops.

• Free time to relax at your hotel or continue exploring the old town.

Day 5: Rice Experience – Khouangsi Waterfall – Buffalo Dairy Farm (B/L)

Morning:

• Visit Living Land Farm, an organic farm and learning center:

  • Learn the 13-step rice cultivation process.

  • Try seasonal farming activities (ploughing, planting, harvesting).

  • Visit workshops for bamboo weaving, blacksmithing, and sugarcane processing.

  • Explore an organic herb garden used in Lao traditional medicine.

  • Sample sticky rice and traditional snacks.

• Lunch: Enjoy a home-cooked, farm-fresh meal at the farm.

Afternoon:

• Travel to Khouangsi Waterfalls, Laos' most photographed site:

  • Trek forest trails, visit the Asian Bear Rescue Center.

  • Swim in the turquoise pools (weather permitting).

• Visit Laos Buffalo Dairy Farm:

  • Learn about dairy innovation and nutrition initiatives.

  • Optional hands-on experiences: milking, bathing buffalos, feeding calves.

  • Taste fresh cheese, yogurt, and buffalo milk ice cream.

Evening:

• Return to Luang Prabang.

• Free at leisure to enjoy a massage, spa, or riverside drink.

Day 6: Pottery Making – Departure (B/L)

Morning:

• Cross the Mekong River by ferry to Ban Chan Village, known for its centuries-old pottery tradition.

• Visit the Pottery House, founded by the Lamphet family.

• Participate in a hands-on clay workshop and learn about ancient kiln techniques.

• Hear stories about the village’s role in royal pottery production.

• Lunch: Enjoy a traditional Lao meal with your hosts, made from garden-grown ingredients.

Afternoon:

• Return to Luang Prabang by ferry.

• Free time until your transfer to Luang Prabang Airport for departure.
