Day 1: Arrival in Luang Prabang

Activities:

• Arrival at Luang Prabang International Airport. Meet your Viet Legend Travel guide for a warm welcome and private transfer.

• Check-in at your selected hotel.

• Enjoy the remainder of your day at leisure.

Suggestions for Your Free Time:

• Stroll along the Mekong River promenade to see local life.

• Sip a cup of rich Lao coffee in a French-style cafe.

• Explore nearby temples, pagodas, or the local handicraft market.

Overnight: Luang Prabang

 

Day 2: Ancient City & Pak Ou Caves Excursion (B/L)

Morning:

• Breakfast at hotel.

• Visit the National Museum (former Royal Palace): explore ancient regalia, royal artifacts, and Buddhist relics.

• Tour Wat Xieng Thong, a quintessential example of Luang Prabang’s architectural elegance with golden motifs and intricate carvings.

Midday Cruise:

• Board a traditional wooden Mekong boat for an upstream river cruise.

• Stop at Ban Xang Hai (Whisky Village) to see rice whisky distillation and sample local spirits.

• Visit the sacred Pak Ou Caves (Tham Ting & Tham Phoum): home to thousands of Buddha statues placed by pilgrims.

Afternoon:

• Enjoy lunch at a riverside restaurant.

• Visit Ban Xang Khong, known for handmade Saa paper and silk weaving.

• Climb Mount Phousi (328 steps) for spectacular sunset views over the town and Mekong.

Day 3: Morning Ritual & Khouangsi Waterfalls Adventure (B/L)

Optional Early Morning:

• Witness or join the Alms Giving Ceremony (Tak Bat) with saffron-robed monks. This daily spiritual ritual is deeply rooted in Lao Buddhist culture.

• Option to join locals for noodle soup breakfast after the ceremony.

Morning:

• Return to hotel for breakfast.

• Visit the Morning Market: find buffalo skin, forest honey, dried herbs, local snacks.

• Explore Wat Visoun, Luang Prabang’s oldest temple, featuring the iconic Watermelon Stupa.

Midday to Afternoon:

• Drive to Khouangsi Waterfall, stopping at:

  • Ban Na Ouane (Khmu ethnic group)

  • H’mong Village for cultural interaction

• Hike rainforest trails, swim in tiered turquoise pools.

• Visit Asian Bear Rescue Center (Free the Bears NGO).

Day 4: Elephant Experience & Departure (B/L)

Morning – Elephant Village Camp (08:00 – 13:00):

• Pickup from your hotel.

• Orientation and educational briefing about elephant care.

• Elephant Feeding: interact with the elephants.

• Tour of the Elephant Hospital, Museum, and Dung Paper Workshop.

• Participate in a "Mahout Moment": learn to communicate with elephants (no riding).

• Take a longtail boat ride to Tad Sae Waterfall (seasonal; dry from ~Dec to May).

• Optional add-on: Elephant Bathing Experience – USD 29/person

Lunch: Buffet lunch at Elephant Village Camp restaurant with drinks (vegetarian options available).

Early Afternoon:

• Return to Luang Prabang.

• Enjoy final moments at leisure before your transfer.
